The optical parts removed during the repair of the metallographic microscope and the metal parts connected with it should be strictly cleaned to prevent mold growth. Where the surface of optical parts without coating layer is contaminated by oil, first clean with gasoline, and then clean with alcohol and ether mixed solvent.

The mixed solvent should be packed in small 50ml bottles with frosted ends and rubber nozzle for ease of use. When cleaning, wear rubber finger cover, all utensils should be kept clean, absorbent cotton, gauze, etc. Do not touch by hand, absorbent cotton in the box with holes, and placed in a convenient place, so that it is easy to roll cotton ball.

The specific method of metallographic microscope cleaning is to hold the optical parts with your hand (or clamp them with a bamboo camera), pick up the cotton from the box with the cotton roll in the other hand, and press it on the cotton roll table to rotate in one direction, so that the cotton roll into a ball, and wrap the end of the cotton roll. Roll the cotton ball into a small amount of mixed solvent, immediately wipe. Wipe the surface of optical parts from the center, wipe outward along the line, for the final cleaning, each wipe a new cotton ball. Check the cleaning is apricot clean, can observe the reflection of the surface of the optical parts under the 60 watt lamp, if no trace of wiping is left, it can be considered to wipe clean. If the optical parts are fixed on the mirror seat with the wrapping method, the metal seat should be wiped clean with gauze dipped in mixed solvent before cleaning.
